Bad News for Swiss Aviation at the beginning of the year
- Swiss: 19 dismissals within the scope of GLOBE
- LTSW: in consultation for closing down
- Option Union Meeting Friday, February 8, 2013
Dear Colleagues
The new year begins with dark clouds and disappointing and radical messages from SWISS and LTSW.
SWISS: 19 dismissals within the scope of GLOBE
Within the scope of the Lufthansa economy programme „Global Business Service“ (GLOBE) SWISS announces the dismissal of 19 employees of the finance sector ten persons from accounts receivable and accounts payable as well as nine persons from renvenue-accounting. This sector is now supposed to be moved to the “low cost country” Poland. At least those concerned are offered some valuable services over the social plan.
SEV-GATA condems the creaping erosion of jobs out of Switzerland. SWISS sign should remain Swiss! Billions of Swiss tax francs have been invested in SWISS, particularly with the aim of saving jobs in our country. The creaping erosion of „Shared Services“ is jeopardizing the well-placed brand „SWISS“ and consequently the jobs and the success of the company.
SEV-GATA is going to investigate any further measures taken by Swiss within the scope of the Lufthansa-programme and expects a solution appropriate to Switzerland from Lufthansa CEO Christoph Franz. As the former head of Swiss he knows the actual situation of the company being comparatively well-placed on the market.
LTSW: In consultation for closing down
On our January 8, 2013 member meeting we determined our response regarding the consultation procedure for mass redundancies of LTSW. Following demands will be submitted:
1. The largest possible number of those affected shall be taken over by Swiss. On the one hand SWISS needs to have its orders executed by LTSW, on the other hand SWISS is socially responsible for the sections it has sourced out.
2. Existing licences shall be extended for the maximum period and if necessary trainings respectively further trainings offered and financed to give those affected a better chance on the labour market.
3. The promised application of the social plan shall be adjusted to LH-standard level.
4. The employees made redundant shall be granted immediate release. If needed by LTSW for special duties they shall be offered an award to hold out.
