GM elects presidency and managing committee
Swiss takes over engine shop from LTSW
LTSW – laying off / future insecure
SCORE puts Swiss-employees under pressure
12 Sundays off are not enough
Dear member
Major projects show: With concerted efforts future infrastructural projects can be implemented. On the occasion of our 19 June general meeting we got the opportunity of looking into the gigantic transport project “Durchmesserlinie (diameter line)“ in Zurich.
GM elects presidency and managing committee
The general meeting elected the SEV-GATA managing committee for the statutory period from 1.1.2013 to 31.12.2017. It will consist of the same members as before:
Philipp Hadorn, presidency
Dominik Fischer, vice president & cashier
Andreas Breker, member
Bert Füller, member
In the annual report the situation of the industrial sector, the problematic EU competition euphoria as well as the current cuts in social services due to the financial crisis were explained. Many thanks again at this point to the members of the managing committee for having been so involved.
Swiss takes over engine shop from LTSW
The remaining 22 members of the engine shop will get a job offer from Swiss. Presently a consultation procedure is going on. The fact that Swiss’ strategy doesn’t provide a continued employment in the engine shop in the long run seems to be problematic. The changeable strategy of outsourcing and insourcing of different departments isn’t exactly a sign of dynamic management.
LTSW laying-off / future insecure
LTSW cutback is in full swing. So far the cancellation of the CLA has not been revoked nor have any CLA-negotiations started. After the local management has been withdrawn it’s now a matter of top urgency to offer stability to those LTSW employees who will continue working. According to the feedback we got from several sides the situation on the labour market is difficult and a big worry for those dismissed.
SCORE puts Swiss employees under pressure
Many members complained about the noticeable pressure due to working out the economy program “Score“. The group of companies’ ambitious savings targets during the developmental phase of Swiss are hard to understand.
12 Sundays off are not enough
The motion “Germanier” demands that only a minimum of 12 Sundays off is granted to aviation ground staff in the future. After intervening of SEV-GATA in preliminary discussions of the parliamentary commission the motion was interrupted. Presently we are having talks with the employers’ associations and SECO, the relevant authority, to work out a solution. Compared with other public transport workers we have to bear in mind that these are subject to the regulation concerning working hours (AZG) with far better general conditions for the protection of employees.
Apart from these difficulties many of us will go on summer vacation pretty soon. I wish you a good rest and enough courage to get involved in creating your working conditions constructively and critically.
More commitment to the union movement is fulfilling and adds to better working conditions. If you’re interested please contact me.
SEV-GATA, the union fighting for the interests of transport staff.
With committed regards
SEV-GATA, your union of the aviation industry
